Kalinka-Stockmann Mall

Kalinka-Stockmann Mall

Looking on my photo-archives, I have decided to show this view from my car on the building of fancy shopping mall in downtown of Moscow city, called Kalinka-Stockmann. I think, that this is good idea to present me as a guide, driver and photographer in Moscow who want to show you something interesting from Russia. This picture I took from my old Russian car LADA 21099 about 1.5 year ago, in summer 2005, it was warm and sunny day (lovely weather, if compare with current weather and season :-)).

"Kalinka-Stockmann" is the chain of markets in Moscow, where the prices are quite expensive (I can say the most expensive grocery stores in Moscow). But in this shop you can find everything from sleepers to olives, wide range of goods which foreigners used to buy on West, but can not be found in another shopping malls; also they have a wide choice of delicacies for the most demanding gourmets. On the red banners is written: "Rasprodazha", which means "Sale" on English, of course, they can do this trick in this overpriced shop.

Here is also very interesting detail - double parking in Moscow is very common. While I was waiting here my client, I had not any choice to park normally nearby sidewalk. This shopping mall is located on the Garden Ring around downtown of Moscow city and even the road has 6 lines each way, usually here is very bad traffic and now you know why.. :-). Policemen come from time to time asking drivers to move the cars at least from the second line, but in 30-60 min will be the same situation..

With BEST Regards,

We learned about Arthurs services in an unfortunate way. After reading a few stories about how Arthur was involved with a young boy who was sent back to Russia from America alone on a plane we decided to use his services while we were in Moscow. My young son and I are sponsors of SOS Children’s Village and during or down time from visiting the SOS Children’s Village in Tomilino we decided to book Arthur services to take my mother for a tour of Moscow. Little did Arthur know we had some sort of connection, because my son and I just happen to be the sponsor to the same child. Arthur knew we were visiting the children’s village but I would always use the child’s birth name because he is no long recognized by his former name and I believe Arthur never connected. I showed Arthur a picture of my son and the boy and referred to the boy by his real name and then informed Arthur who this child was by his former adopted name. Arthur seemed very pleased and happy to see the boys smiling face and to hear that he is doing just fine and wonderful. The service he provided my family was wonderful and the way he treated my 8 year old son was just fantastic! It was a pleasure and honor to meet this man. I will highly recommend my new friends service to anyone traveling to Moscow for wonderful experience!
