Porch of Tsarina's Chambers

Porch of Tsarina's Chambers

In the middle of 17th sentury on the grounds of Savvino-Storozhevsky monastery two palaces for the Royal family had been built during reconstraction, the famous craftsmen was invited and a lot of money from treasury were spent. The Tsar Palace was built for the Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich (father of Peter the Great), who liked to stay in the Monastery, and the building of Tsarina's Chambers was erected for his first wife, Tsarina Maria Inynichna Miloslavsskaya. On this picture you can see the festive Tsarina's Chambers from the side of the main entrance with the impressive porch.

Nowadays, the Tsarina's Chambers houses a historical museum with various exhibits showing us rare collections of medieval handicraft and art in the gala halls with multicolored portals and tile stoves. One of this exhibits, for example, called "The 17th century Boyarinya and Dining Chambers", shows the atmosphere of Old Russia we know from fairy-tales. The reconstructed interiors demonstrate ornamental embroideries, expensive Russian and foreign textiles, various samples of Moscow jewelry art (buttons, ear-rings), books, chests - objects surrounding a Russian woman at that time.

I highly recommend Arthur Lookyanov as a professional and reliable personal driver-guide in and around Moscow. I spent two full days with Arthur, the first in touring two towns in Russia's famous Golden Ring and the second in touring within Moscow proper. Also, he provided round trip car service between my hotel and business meetings on two other days. In all this, I found Arthur to be very friendly, knowledgeable, energetic, and totally committed to client satisfaction. He planned my itineraries very thoroughly, but was also flexible and inventive in changing "on the fly" to meet my interests. A big bonus is that Arthur is also a professional photographer and I now have literally 100s of great photos of my experiences, at no extra cost. Finally, his Honda CR-V is relatively new, well maintained, and quite comfortable. All in all, my time with Arthur was very enjoyable and educational, and I will certainly hope to engage him again should I return to Moscow. Many thanks, Arthur, and kind regards!
