Summer carriage in the Armoury

Summer carriage in the Armoury

This photo I took in the State THE ARMOURY Museum-Preserve of History and Culture (Armory Chambers) which located in the Moscow Kremlin.
The Summer carriage in the form of an Italian gondola was made in England in the 1770s. It was a present to Empress Catherine the Great from Count Orlov. The carriage is adorned with magnificent woodcarving of laurel and oak leaves, flower garlands, banner and trophies and covered with a thin layer of gold. It gives the impression of being carved metal. This carriage is artistically one of the finest in the world.

We booked Arthur's services for a day tour of Moscow in August. We felt like we saw a lot of Moscow in one day. It helps that Arthur has a car :) the highlight for me was the Kremlin and Arthur's vast knowledge of the museum treasures and the Kremlin itself adds another dimension to the tour. And of course his photography skills are very good!
